Terms of use

Plain terms for a site that sells nothing, takes no wagers, holds no accounts, and publishes a small paper research record. Read them the way they are written: as a description of what you are getting, not as a wall of clauses you were never meant to finish.

Before the clauses

Two things worth saying first

Neither of these is a formality.

This is not legal advice

This document is written by the person who operates VigPulse, in ordinary language, so that it can actually be read. It is not drafted by a lawyer, it is not legal counsel, and it cannot tell you anything about your own legal position. Sports wagering law differs enormously by country, state, and province. If you need to know whether something is lawful for you, ask someone qualified where you live.

Nothing here creates a customer relationship

There is no account to open, no subscription to buy, no checkout, and no paid tier. See pricing and the refund policy, which currently say the same thing: nothing is for sale. You are reading a published research log and some free calculators.

What VigPulse is, and what using it means

VigPulse is a market-research experiment on MLB moneylines. It records entries on paper, grades them, and publishes every graded row alongside the method used to record them. The current public record is 33 graded paper entries (9W-24L), and no real money has been staked in it.

By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, the appropriate response is to stop using the site. There is nothing to cancel and no data of yours to delete, because there is no account.

Scope

These terms cover this website and everything published on it: the ledger, the written explainers, the calculators, and the illustrative product demos. They do not cover any future application, data product, or paid service, each of which would need terms of its own before it launched.

Nothing here is advice

Nothing published on VigPulse is betting advice, financial advice, investment advice, or a recommendation to place any wager. That is not a disclaimer bolted onto a tipping service. It is an accurate description of what this site contains.

BET, WAIT, and PASS are labels, not instructions

The demo surfaces on this site display analytic states. BET means a modelled edge cleared a threshold in a sample dataset. It does not mean “place this bet”, it is not addressed to you, and on the demo pages it does not refer to a real market at all. The same applies to scores, edges, expected values, and half-life figures.

The calculators do arithmetic on your own inputs

The tools compute standard betting math from numbers you type. A Kelly stake produced from your own probability estimate is a statement about your estimate, not an endorsement of it. If the estimate is wrong the output is wrong, and no part of this site can tell you which.

Past results do not predict outcomes

The published record is small, early, paper-only, and concentrated in a handful of results. It is published so it can be checked, not because it demonstrates an edge. Read results methodology before drawing any conclusion from the ledger.

Eligibility and your local law

This site is intended for adults. Where you are, the legal minimum age for gambling is likely 18, 19, or 21, and in some places wagering is unlawful regardless of age. You are responsible for knowing which of those applies to you.

VigPulse does not accept wagers, hold funds, process payments, operate a sportsbook, or act as an agent for one. Nothing on this site can place a bet and no page will ever ask you to. If you choose to wager somewhere else, that is a transaction between you and that operator, under whatever rules and law govern it.

If gambling is causing harm, stop reading the market analysis and read responsible gambling instead. It lists helplines that are free and confidential.

The site is provided as it is

This website is published without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.

Specific things to assume rather than hope about:

Demo data is invented. Every price, book, timestamp, and score on the Pulse, Opportunities, and market board pages is sample data on a fixed snapshot. None of it describes a real market.
Published pages are static. The site is exported as static files. A page can be out of date the moment after it is built, and nothing on the page would tell you.
The ledger can contain errors. It is maintained by hand from a small research process. If you find a mistake, report it and it will be corrected in public rather than quietly.
Calculators can contain bugs. They are tested against known cases, which is not the same as being correct in every case.

Acceptable use

Use of this site is permitted for reading, learning, and checking the work. Do not:

resell, repackage, or present anything from this site as picks, tips, signals, or a paid service, whether or not it is attributed;
represent that VigPulse endorses a wager, a sportsbook, a product, or a person, because it does not;
strip the demo, preview, and roadmap labels from screenshots or copies in a way that presents sample data as real market data or a real result;
attack, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or the infrastructure it is served from;
scrape at a volume that degrades the site for other readers. The whole ledger is one small file rendered on one page; you do not need a crawl fleet to read it, and if you want the underlying data, email and ask.

Content, data, and brand

The written content

The explainers, methodology write-ups, and page copy are the operator’s work. Quote them with attribution and a link. Do not republish them wholesale as your own.

The ledger data

Free to reproduce

The published results data may be reproduced, analysed, and criticised freely, with attribution. A public record that cannot be independently re-analysed is not much of a public record.

The brand

Not licensed

The VigPulse name, wordmark, pulse mark, and visual identity are not licensed for reuse, and may not be used in a way that suggests affiliation, partnership, or endorsement.

Third-party links

A small number of pages link out, chiefly to gambling-harm helplines on the responsible gambling page. Those organisations are independent of VigPulse. Linking to them is not an endorsement of anything beyond the help they provide, and VigPulse is not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices.

There are no sportsbook affiliate links anywhere on this site. See the affiliate disclosure, which explains what would have to change and how it would be disclosed.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VigPulse and its operator are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this website. That includes, without limitation, gambling losses, lost profits, and losses caused by acting on an analytic state, a calculator output, a ledger figure, an illustrative demo value, or a page that was out of date or wrong.

The reasoning is not clever: this site does not know what you are betting, where, at what price, or with what bankroll, and it has never claimed to. Any wagering decision you make is yours.

What this clause does not do

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain liabilities, and consumers there hold rights that cannot be signed away in a website footer. Nothing in this section is intended to exclude liability for fraud or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here removes a statutory right you have where you live.

Who publishes this, and what law applies

VigPulse is operated by an individual. There is no incorporated entity behind it today, no company registration to cite, and no office address, and this page will not invent one. If an entity is formed, this section will name it and the change will be dated.

Governing law

These terms deliberately do not assert a governing law or a forum you never agreed to. There is no contract of sale between us, no money changes hands, and naming a convenient jurisdiction to point at would be theatre. If a paid product ever launches, it will carry terms that state governing law and dispute resolution plainly, before you pay anything.

Changes

These terms may change. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date and version number at the top of this page. There is no mailing list to notify, because no addresses are collected — see privacy.
